Historical background and Mythological Significance.

Vaishnav devi is incarnation of Mahasarsvati, Mahalaxmi, and Mahakali. Three Pindos in Holy cave depicts Mata Vaishnav devi in 3 forms of Mahasarsvati, Mahalaxmi, and Mahakali.Vaishnavdevi is manifestation from rays of Mahasarsvati,Mahalaxmi and Mahakali.

Some Traditions believes the shrine in Jammu and Kashmir to be the holiest of all Shaktipeeths (a place where the mother goddess the eternal energy has her abode). Since the skull of Mata Sakti fell there.

It is said that Baba Bhairaonath way a famous Hindu Tantric who saw the young Vaishnav Devi & fell madly behind her. Vaishnav Devi fled in to Trikuta Hills to escape his amorous advances. She hidded in Blind cave for 9 months to save her from Baba Bhairaonath .Presently that holy cave is called ‘Ardh Kuwan’ .Later on she turned into her original form of Goders Durga and cut off head of Baba Bhairavnath in a cave.

Vaishnav devi is believed to be the best ower of strength to the weak, sight to blind, wealth to poor & bless childless couples with children’s.

Baba Bhairao (kali Bhairav) was killed by Maa Vaishnav devi & during his last Breath he repented his sins. The goddess forgave him & said that no Pilgrimage to Vaishnav devi will be complete without visiting Bhairav Temple.
